I will miss Cathy

Today is the last day for the comic strip "Cathy". Cathy Guisewite has been creating the comic for 34 years and she has chosen to stop now to spend more time with her family.

When I used to read a daily paper, I would always look forward to "Cathy". The cartoon below is one of my favorites (that I had taped to the inside of a kitchen cabinet door) from February 15, 1994. I think it is just as true (and funny) today as it was then!

Do you have a favorite comic?

Marcy

P.S. Tomorrow is the day that The Nate Berkus Show (with the bloggers in attendance) is airing!

  1. Man it's been a long time since I read the comics...but I did like to read Cathy many moons ago. I can sure understand her need to re-prioritize -- seems to be the trend lately.

  2. Oh, I didn't realize the Cathy comic was on its way out. I'm happy for her, but the rest of us will miss that straightforward character, won't we?

I used to love Family Circus. I grew up in a large family and I could relate to the one where the children are waiting in the car, bags packed, and ask, "Are we ready to go yet?" (It looks like around 4 a.m.)

  3. Ha, ha, ha, that comic is so true. We have lots of gadgets and no time to cook. I also use to read Family Circus growing up. And there's Blondie and Marmaduke, then later the hysterical Far Side. Sadly I don't really read them any more.
